The affordable mobile space is set to become highly competitive this year and Lenovo has put itself in the ring with A6000 smartphone. Expected to be priced under Rs 10,000 the A6000 will be looking to offer stiff competition to products like Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Micromax's Yu Yureka.
The phone coincides with the reports that have been floating around the internet over the past couple of weeks. Earlier this year, leading media reports highlighted Lenovo's plan to introduce an affordable 4G powered smartphone at the CES 2015 and those have come to fruition.
Lenovo A6000 plays more on the price factor, rather than competing with the might of Xiaomi and Yu, who have managed to offer exceptional value-for-money hardware at sub Rs 10K price point. Lenovo A6000 sports a 5-inch HD display which is small than the devices from Xiaomi and Yu but offers better display quality. Lenovo has taken utmost interest in making sure that the phone manages to find takers for its sheer looks and figurine with 8.2mm thickness and weighing a mere 128 grams, making it one of the lightest phone in the budget segment.
The company has chosen 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset for the A6000 clocked at 1.2GHz that is basically the 4G supported successor to the very popular Snapdragon 400 SoC. On the memory front, Lenovo has opted for 1GB RAM and that's on the lower side compared to the 2GB RAM on Yureka and Redmi Note. The Lenovo A6000 offers 8GB storage which more or less should be expandable further.
That's not all, Lenovo feels 8MP rear and 2 MP front cameras are sufficient enough for users and acceptable for this price (though not many including us will agree to that). The smaller sized phone, however seems to have to gotten the battery size right as this smartphone comes with a 2,300mAh unit that should make day-to-day usage very convenient(however we will telling you our verdict on the battery life and other performance parameters in our review that follows later). Lenovo A6000 (we hope there's a better name to it) will be made available in India, exclusively via Flipkart in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.
